Technical Specifications of FM500 High-Precision Gear Flow Meter
Product Overview
The FM500 high-precision gear flow meter is a positive displacement (volumetric) flow meter capable of detecting ultra-low liquid flow rates as minimal as 0.5 mL/min while maintaining an accuracy of ±0.5% F.S. It is designed for precise micro-flow measurement applications.
Working Principle
Mechanism: Utilizes a pair of elliptical gears within a metering chamber. The gears rotate under fluid pressure, trapping and discharging a fixed volume of liquid per cycle. Total flow is calculated as:
Total Flow = Gear Rotations × 4 × Displacement per Cycle.
Advantages: Measurement accuracy is unaffected by fluid viscosity, density, flow state, or Reynolds number due to its volumetric design.
Key Features
Accuracy: ±0.5% or ±0.2% (customizable).
Viscosity Range: 2–200 mPa·s (extendable for higher viscosities).
Temperature Range:
Standard: -20°C to +80°C.
With heat sink: Up to 200°C.
Pressure Rating:
Cast iron/stainless steel: 1.6 MPa.
Cast steel: 2.5 MPa or 6.4 MPa (customizable).
Materials: Cast iron, cast steel, or stainless steel (316L).
Output Options:
Pulse signal (Hall effect/reed switch).
4–20 mA analog output.
Power supply: 24V DC.
Explosion Proof: ExiaIICT5 certification for hazardous environments.
Optional Features: Insulated jacket for high-temperature applications.
Limitations
Unsuitable Media: Fluids containing solid particles (risk of gear jamming) or gases (measurement errors).
Viscosity Impact: Higher viscosity reduces leakage between gear gaps, improving accuracy.
Applications
Industries: Petroleum, chemical, power, metallurgy, food/pharmaceutical manufacturing, agriculture, and environmental monitoring.
Media: Diesel, gasoline, lubricants, acids, alkalis, and high-viscosity fluids (e.g., resins, asphalt).
Installation Notes
Ensure full-pipe flow without air bubbles.
Horizontal installation preferred; vertical installation requires upward flow.
Regular maintenance (quarterly) to prevent particle accumulation.
Customization
Configurations available for special requirements (e.g., high pressure, extreme temperatures).
